At the start of this month we saw EE launch the Kestrel as the lowest budget 4G smartphone available on contract for as much as £13:99 a month, the handset is in direct competition with entry mid level handsets such as the Motorola G and the Nokia Lumia 625/630 however specwise it wipes the floor with all its competition and at a better price for the hardware it stacks on board. Last week EE announced further 4G products and services to be released and available within days and months. The EE EAGLE is a 4G 8 inch Android Tablet which EE believe is capable of nudging the iPad from its praised pedestal position. The Eagle will fly with the Kestrel and go on sale just this week for a mere £199 outright on pay as you go or £49 up front signing you up for a 24 month contract at just £15 a month with 2GB’s of 4G data.

An EE Spokemen at the pre launch stated that the when compared to the iPad on a spec for spec bases the Eagle was good if not better then the Apple tablet. The Eagle like the Kestrel released by EE at the start of this month is Huawei technology used and rebranded for EE’s 4G campaign. The Eagle lands itself with 16GB’s of internal memory offering an SD Memory Card expandable up 32GB having enough space on the device already 16GB’s is plenty and you can always get more if need be. The camera on the Eagle is a more then sufficient 5 MP camera which captures quality images to share with friends and family.

The Eagle is powered by a 1.6 quad core processor and has an eight inch screen painting a resolution of 1280 x 1800 which isn’t quite as equal to the iPad Mini 2048 x 1536 retina display but it doesn’t cost a small fortune either. The design of the Eagle is sleek and smooth with plastic front panels and it’s thin too at only 7.8MM weighing 329 grams despite having an 8 inch HD Screen! An aluminium metal top and back with forward front facing speakers reminiscent of the HTC One M8 in design the Eagle itself looks sophisticated and expensive. The Eagle is not just apealing in how it looks and feels but how it proforms as well and you won’t find another tablet out there with as much processing power available in terms of price. The Device runs on Android Jellybean 4.3 which isn’t the latest (4.4) but a is highly customisable practical and responsive to use letting you cruise though applications with ease. An update to 4.4 is likely in the works.

Car-wifiThe Eagle wasn’t the only announcement made from EE this week. Along with the Eagle EE are flaunting domination of the 4G sky with a host of new dongle devices at present and soon to be available on the network in the UK this week. The Buzzard which is a plug and play device not unlike a dongle and can be used to generate a 4G WIFI hotspot from your car for up to ten devices. The Buzzard will cost around £50 outright on pay as you go. Similar to the Buzzard is the Osprey and the Kite, the Osprey is aimed at a younger audience such as students and will cost £50 outright on pay as you go or at a £19 upfront fee for a £10 a month. Finally the Kite is aimed towards the business market and again will generate your own personal WIFI 4G hotspot. The Kestrel is already available on order, the Eagle, Osprey and the Buzzard will be released by EE this week on the 28th EE also stated that the Osprey and the Buzzard will be free of charge on any 24 month contract costing more then £15! Finally the Kite the premium business 4G hotspot cream of the crop won’t touch down until mid June. Visit EE directly or make your orders through EZ-Mobiles for the fastest 4G available in the UK!
