Apple don’t just design iPhones iPads and iMacs they also design futuristically freash controversial renewable circular architecture for their labs and headquaters. Recently just as back as last month Apple submitted revised plans after laying down the foundations of her new and second HQ in Cupertino California. The revised plans requested planning permission and approval of an ‘Architectual Site’ Apple also requested a tree removal permit!
Tim Cook the CEO of Apple also tackled an interview with enviromental questions recently when he was at the NYC Climate week. The issue of the enviroment and the companies stance upon their supply-chain and how that too effects the economical and environmental ecosystem was brought into question. Tim Cook Pledged that he thought the new Apple HQ under construction would be the greenest and the most enviromentally friendly building ever in the world. Responding also the need for open transparency in supply chains promising that they “Apple” are working on it in “A Major Way” Captain Cook also noted that a companies transparancy in the supply chain and the way each product and company has its cause on the enviroment as we paraphrase for him; should be up to the customer to vote with their own two cents only supporting companies which they think are doing the right thing for the environment!
“We’re building a new headquaters that will, I think, be the greatest building on the planet. It’ll be a centre for innovation, and its something clearly our employees want an we want”
Cupertino law dictates that construction sites must reuse at least 75% of their demolished materials Apple has said they have gone a step further re-using around 90% and have also set up an on site operation dedicated to recycling all of its demolished historical cement for the new space aged building. Ever greener still Apple are “Repurposing” rarther then chopping and destroying tree’s at will sending those they use to the local lumber mill!
Meanwhile in Cupertino Apple have constructed a wall surrounding their construction and have security teams patrolling keeping intruders at bay and triangulating drone pilots from Apple’s airspace off and away from the Architectural site! The campus is set to open in 2016 and upon construction will stretch out and cover over 176 acres exceeding 2.8 million square feet when fully operational accommodating an average 12,000 staff members! Like a little Town Mall unto itself!
The entire building will be powered by 100% renewable energy sources and has natural ventilation 75% for most of the day! It’s uncertain if Apple are relying on wind or just solar energy but they do claim to be building one of the largest onsite corporate solar installations in the world! Above is a YouTube video of one of the drones that got away capturing aerial photoage of the new Apple Campus 2 construction in progress, the authoritative, restorative, renewable, recyclable and controversial workplace and learning centre of the silicone world!
