Mobile & Broadband

From Analogue To Digital, The Broadband Journey Of A Lifetime

Along with computing the internet completely changed the world entirely and effortlessly. So swiftly, was it’s transition made that it feels like it’s always been here and that it’s always been the same. For our children, it seems this will always be so and as for ourselves, we’ve seen it grow and integrate with all society and see the approaching 5G future. Back a little before 2000 AD, I was reading comics and playing computer games online. Like my parents generation which initially first saw the TV socially set upon the public. I was the first kid in my neighbourhood with a paper-round paying for my own ISDN modem connection, at the time when our parents were probably saving for a bike when they were the same age as I was. This gave me a rise from the standard 56K modem to a higher 128KB connection which was very fast at the time. Having this connection made opening web pages almost instantaneous, it also helped with banishing lag when playing online video games taken for granted and unnoticed today.

A Faster Connection

ISDN was initially used commercially by big and small businesses for voice, video and data streaming. We had our internet installed at home by a BT engineer in the house I grew up inside. I paid the separate monthly bill for the ISDN service and a separate monthly bill for our unmetered unlimited dialup ISP. The name of which I can’t quite remember, I know for sure only as I read this over and reminisce, when I played Quake 2 regularly on the most popular and smoothest running F9 (Force9) hosted server. It’s amazing to see where the company has come from and been and where it has hit it’s targets and if ever has missed the mark. PlusNet could have just as easily evolved into what we see today, as Twitch and still sponsors and hosts Lan Party events and gaming competitions once in a blue moon. Internet service providers everywhere have evolved from a primitive service into a tanglement of networks of servers, essentially into the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line or ADSL and even faster Fibre Optic home broadband. The wireless Wifi receiver we all know and live with and even seem to hear and see and seemingly breath with today, will be synonymously enfolding into the next generation of 5G interconnected infrastructure of the future.

With the mainstream birth of the internet in our mirror, we can see how far it has come and what it has become. The PC we used to connect to the wall and the internet has decreased in size and increased in computing power, whilst having shrunken into a portable pocketable Smartphone. Which we here @EzMobiles have developed into a little known suitable acronym (Social Multimedia And Roaming Telephone) device. After all, PC’s started off as Private Computers and were only destined to start talking together and becoming connected enough to put a ding and dent in the social fabric of our universe. Almost nearly every household now has a high speed internet data provided for with an always on wifi wireless system installed manually and unlike it’s predecessors it’s self assembled easily Ikea style. PlusNet have had a steady and strong competitive far reaching hand of involvement from the very beginning of the internet and have surfed and sailed through it’s often unpredictable turbulent seas and temporary climate.

The Curriculum Vitae of PlusNet reads like the critically acclaimed series of Halt and Catch Fire or the latest entrepreneurial screenplay start-up spin-off adaptation. Which in truth surprisingly started in the traditional rolling plains of the Yorkshire Valley, hence their company slogan “We’ll do you proud” should be enunciated in the best and closest possible Yorkshire or Lancashire accent donned by the dapper Thoughty2 of Youtube. If the suggestion is ever heeded or not remains to be seen, just you remember, you heard it here first @Ezmobiles. We expect retweets for life or a twitter and YT shoutout @Thoughty2! dawning pre 1999 and originally under the name of Force9. PlusNet was reborn and rebranded in 2000 and Force9 was cemented, after having a wonderful and glorious rise and story to tell. The company was acquisitioned and acquired and integrated by BT, PlusNet had it’s touches and involvement beforehand with the functioning and foundation work of many notable Virtual ISP’s, including BT One Enterprise Connect and BT One Enterprise Broadband. Services both used by BT internally to interact with their very own personal global and commercial clients. PlusNet Mobile uses EE Mobile’s 4G spectrum which incidentally stretches it’s interconnected umbrella across 99% of the United Kingdom.

Recent Changes @PlusNet

Additionally and recently PlusNet have joined forces with Life Mobile and opened their doors and horizons wider as a mobile network.
