IFA2015 kicked off this week in the rugged lands of Berlin. We didn’t make it this year but maybe next year we’ll be there to get some footage and our grubby hands on everything we can touch! The annual tech event includes everything and all things technology speaking with some of the latest PC’s TV’s Smartphone’s and gadgetry to become availble in the next few months and visionary future.

IFA2015 Sony

Officially open to the public an press and begining later today September the 4th there’s already been (as traditionally there is) premature announcements and publicly displays throughout the week. Sensibly helping everybody know where to find what- Here are just a few announcements made live this week regarding Sony, Huewai, LG and the peoples favourite Samsung with the Gear S2- Apple traditionally keep away from IFA presumably too far from the tree and content to make plans of ceremony on their own terms and territory.

Today we focus on Sony’s show case at IFA 2015 with arguably the most surprising unveiling hailing this year with the new Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and finally the staggering phablet-like 5.5 inch Sony Xperia Z5 Premium in a whole new generation for the ‘Sony Xperia Family Range’

As you’d probably learn to expect by now; Sony loves tradition keeping steadily to the same ‘Omiballance’ brilliant design language as all previous Xperia models however this time Sony moved with the times settling a new natrually convieniently placed fingerprint scanner on the ‘power button’ and set a new standard in visual par- excellence with a 5.5 inch 4K trusty Triluminous IPS Capacitive Touchscreen.

The new benchmark record breaking display gives the Z5 Premium the most advanced and in depth resolution ever seen beforehand on a smartphone at 3840 x 2160p (Probably better then your TV) furthermore packing (806) of those tiny detailed compressed pixels per square inch of the display! Nothing else compares or even comes close to matching this to date. Not even the Quad HD of the Samsung Galaxy S6 (577 ppi) or the LG G4 (538 ppi) Sony just blew the compeition out of the water in terms of bubbling, glowingly sharp, crystal clear, tear inspiring, viewing pleasure which by all means you can have with your Champers in the Jacuzzi.

Arguably there isn’t much to gain for such an overkill vain 4K screen but Sony have tended to that reproach declaring the Z5 Premium will use Sony’s own unique 4K upscale technology- Meaning you’ll be able to watch the likes of YouTube and Netflix upscaled automatically into 4K with no fuss! Demonstrated in the background below by Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai.

It will be interesting to see if any of Sony’s competitors imitate and press for a 4K display later next year or earlier for themselves. Obviously you can shoot in HDR and 4K with advancements made to Sony’s trusted 23MP primary rear camera.

–The camera from the Z2 up until the Z3+ was already quick to take a flick but can now autofocus and grab multiple shot’s in 00.3 miliseconds- Meaning as long as you react quickly and flip your phone from pocket without dropping it you’ll never miss a photo opportunity ever again!

Sony also reworked the primary camera to proform better whilst zoomed x5 with the 24mm f/2.0 optical focal lens adding new software to help with reworking spacial resolution at a long distance- cleaning the pixel noise out of the image which would usually occur on most devices and its predessors. Sony’s ‘Steady Shot’ has also been updated and further improved upon along with extra sound quality including record industry recognised and produced High Audio Resolution (Hi-Res) meaning you get to hear as the artists originally intended with Sony’s H.Ear noise cancellation crafted ear plugs (Provided in-box) Sony also flaunted new headphones sold separately and the ‘Wena Watch’ pronounced Whenah!

First Impressions

All in all the design and build is familiar to those of us already palming a Sony Xperia device; indeed any Sony Xperia Fangirl or Fanboy for that matter will tesifty to the style and slimline crafted ‘Omiballance’ slate-like glass and metal dust-proof and water resistant design and ultimately simple UI with regular software updates historically rolling out on time for the Sony Xperia range.

Specifications

The Z5/Compact/Premium are almost all equal in terms of spec’s sporting an Octa-Core processing system with one set of Quads clocked at 1.5 and the other at 2.00 Ghz with an illuminate scaley Snapdragon 810 Qualcomm chipset powered by the Adreno 430.
