The LG G4 was released in April 2015. Numerically and logically dubbed the G4, is LG’s latest flagship for 2015 and is the fourth generation of a widely admired and respected range of Smartphone.

The LG G4 Craft & Design

LG’s G2, G3 and now the G4 really separate themselves in craft and design figuratively speaking. You can tell if someone is using one by the rear camera and the almost conspicuous but conveniently and naturally placed power, volume up and down buttons nested at the back. This by definition makes holding and operating the cleanly cut and minutely curved handset a new experience and process appreciated by anyone not familiar with LG’s approach and design philosophy.

The LG G4 illuminates it’s 5.5 inch screen with a new Quad HD ‘Quantum’ display which if you investigate all the details down to the nitty gritty can playback all the colours of the rainbow to a standard of light and display usually only reserved for the likes of Disney, 20th Century Fox and other production companies. The new Quantum display will make the present market standard AMOLED LCD screen paraphrasing LG, a mere reflection of the past. Making the G4 even better for movies graphical richness VR and viewing in sunlight without shade from the sun.

The LG G4 operates using the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop which is enveloped and cloaked with LG’s own visual skin and user interface (UX 4.0) which will give the G4 it’s own individual look slightly more naked and streamlined down from the G3 a generation ago. The G4 also comes with ‘Smart Bulitin’ giving you easy access to your calendar and most used features.

The LG G4 Personal Touch

Speaking of looks there’s much variety involved with eight plastic and metallic finished colours to choose from but the most outstanding and expensive LG G4 has hand stitched leather backing from Germany available in sky blue, white and beige stitch which is also interchangeable with ceramic and plastic depending on your style and feel. The battery at 3000 MAh is unique to the latest flagship competition on the market and has currently the only removable battery available which comes with LG’s new Smart Power Management function virtually making the LG G4 a serious consideration and must have especially for the battery conscientious.

Powering the whole device again with unorthodox balanced style the G4 is loaded with a Hexacore CPU clocking 1.8 GHz x 5 and a Snapdragon 808 chipset to boot, Boom! This should be more then capable for handling anything you can throw at it with enough internal room for 32GB of memory and magic number of 3GB of RAM partnered with 128GB of expandable SD Card potential extra storage space.

The LG G4 Camera

The 16MP rear camera can be stealthily and casually fired with the characteristic functionality of your fingertip double tapping the volume down aback the handset. The laser autofocus is faster than the human eye with three axis optical image stabilization added to smooth things over boosted further with the wide f/1.8 lens improving and vastly reducing the level of pixel noise in low lighting conditions. The rear camera also has a new colour spectrum sensor for sensing white balance. LG have really touted the camera as a replacement and competitor to a professional DSLR Camera which means it should be very, very good and more then impressive. The secondary front facing camera carries the standard 8MP and should come in handy too.

Overall First Impressions

The LG G4 is an impressive individual device and upgrade to the LG G3. Keeping the same design characteristics with it’s rear control, usability and the 5.5 inch QHD Quantum infused and gloriously vibrant screen size. The smartphone takes new inspiration from the LG G Flex 2 adding a slight curve to the whole device which doesn’t flex but stands out as another LG design signature. The rear 16MP camera has tones of features a wide angle f/1.8 lens with optical image stabilisation and new colour spectrum sensor. There’s a variety of case colours and styles to pick from for the LG fan and the device appeals sensibly as the only flagship model available with a removable battery which should make it quite popular. Overall I’m impressed by what I have seen, heard and felt of the LG G4.
